Hello from Chicago!

Happy hump day everyone! I feel like I’ve lost track of what day of the week it is, but I’m not complaining because so far this week has been great! I’m so glad we made the decision to come to Michigan for a few days because we’ve had such a great time with my family and we’ve had really beautiful weather.

Yesterday, my mom and I got manicures and pedicures which was so much fun. (I went with a light pink sparkly OPI shade called Princesses Rule! on my nails, and then Essie Fruit Sangria on my toes…pink pink!)

We did some more shopping, and when I have a little more time next week I want to do a separate post about some of my finds because I got some really super deals! (Don’t worry, my dad and Cam got some fishing time in on the pond, so it wasn’t all girl stuff!)

Last night, we had dinner at my favorite restaurant in Lake Orion, Sagebrush Cantina. They have the most delish Mexican food ever, and I was glad that a lot of my extended family was able to join us for dinner. All in all, it was a great few days in Lake Orion…there are definitely things I miss about living at home (and of course I miss my family) but I just have to keep reminding myself that even though the weather is beautiful now, it’s terrible for 75% of the year 🙂

Anyway, we got an early start this morning to start our journey west…first stop, Ann Arbor! The weather was gorgeous, so we had a great day reminiscing about our days at Michigan. We met up with some of our friends from college, Dan and Daniela, who happened to be in Michigan as well and it was great to see them. We had a nice little brunch at Zingerman’s and it was just as delicious as I remembered.

Afterwards, Cam and I took Lola on a long walk all around Kerrytown, Main Street, and campus and she seemed to enjoy all the hustle and bustle. It was fun to see how new businesses and restaurants that have come in since we’ve left, but for the most part, things looked the same. We had a second lunch at No Thai (can’t go to Ann Arbor with out eating there!), and we even got Lola a Michigan collar before hitting the road. (Some of these pictures are with my phone, others are with the new camera…just fyi)

Ann Arbor has such a great Farmers’ Market
Walking on Main St…
So happy that they added a Cherry Republic to Main Street, I was able to get a bag of my favorite Sour Cherries! 🙂
Checking out the famous Michigan squirrels
Ahh the memories

We got engaged under that arch back in 2008! 🙂

Me trying to put Lola in front of the sign for a picture…and getting sprayed by the sprinkler…awesome.

This afternoon, we drove from Ann Arbor to Chicago, and we’re resting up for a long day of driving tomorrow. We’re staying at dog-friendly hotel near Michigan Ave (and Lola is loving the Windy City may I add), and I’m kind of sad we didn’t get here a little earlier to do some shopping. (Although, I don’t think we could fit anything else in our car!) We had a fun dinner at the famous Gino’s East Pizzeria with my cousin Olivia and my college roomie Alex. It was great to see them both, and I definitely need to plan a longer visit to Chicago ASAP!

Tomorrow, we’ve got about 16 hours of driving between us and Colorado so it’s definitely going to be a loooooong day. However, after talking about it for months I’m excited to just get there already! Our plan is to drive all 16 hours tomorrow, stay in a hotel in Colorado tomorrow night, then we’re moving in to our new apartment Friday. However, we’re going to play it by ear and may end up staying overnight in Nebraska tomorrow if we get tired. Speaking of tired, I need to hit the hay! Nighty night!

#1 Co-pilot

**We took a TON of photos today in Ann Arbor with our new camera, however I just put up a few, mainly pics I snapped with my cell. But I promise that I’ll be putting up more pictures soon, as well as putting up some pictures for yesterday’s post…I’m just too sleepy from all the deep dish pizza to put up anymore tonight! I’ll let y’all know when I do though! 🙂 **
