Happy Monday everyone! I hope that everyone had a relaxing weekend…I did! 🙂
I feel like I have been slackin’ a little bit on ze blog because there are so many different post ideas that I have swirling around in my head (I kid, I am a compulsive list maker so they are neatly jotted down in the notebook where I keep all my lists…yes, I have a notebook just for lists…I digress) but I feel I just don’t have the time to get around to writing them and sometimes I get frustrated. I feel like I’m constantly reminding myself that blogging is something that’s supposed to be a fun hobby and I never want it to feel like a chore where I’m stressing about having to get it done. Living my life to the fullest, spending time with the people I love, and actually doing things I enjoy are my first priorities, and if I don’t get to document every little thing on here, then oh well. That being said, I do love blogging and having a creative outlet where I can share my thoughts with the world, I just feel it’s a constant balance of finding time to do this hobby I enjoy with just enjoying my actual life.
I apologize for this little tirade, I’m just getting a little of my own frustration off my chest and I promise that there will be lots of exciting posts in the weeks to come…but for now, I’ve got one last round of photos to share from our trip to Oregon last weekend…(you can see additional photos here and here)
When I first met Cam, I was struck by this great love he had for his home state. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed growing up in Michigan and I have nothing but love the mitten state, but Cam loves Oregon on a whole different level. He’d always go on and on about how awesome it was, so I think initially I may have resisted liking it just a little because a) I had such high expectations going in and b) when someone tells me that I’m supposed to like something, my natural inclination is to not.
Now that some time has passed and many visits to Oregon have come and gone, I’ve realized that it’s actually a pretty cool place. Yes you have rain and clouds, but you’ve got the mountains, the ocean, and lots of fantastic coffee, beer, and food. I especially love Portland; it’s such a vibrant city that’s very liveable and the perfect size, in my opinion. Walking around and showing Cam’s friends the cool things about the city reminded me how much I love it and excited me about the possibility of living there in the future…
And of course we made a stop at Stumptown, home of some of the most delicious coffee in Portland. I really need to venture out and try more coffee places when I come to town, but we always seem to end up coming back to this place because so so good.
We also drove up to Multnomah Falls, which is an Oregon landmark. It was actually my third visit there, but it’s always beautiful to see! (We didn’t walk up to the top this time though…some of the guys weren’t really dressed for the cool weather…hence Chris borrowing my black hooded sweatershirt…ha.)
In order to give them the full tour of the sights, we also drove up to Mount Hood, but in true Oregon fashion it was super foggy and you couldn’t see anything. Bummer. However, we did stop by
Timberline Lodge which is a really cool historic hotel so it wasn’t a total waste.
And then of course what would a trip to Oregon be without a round of go-karting? (nice…ha) I actually did 3 rounds, but after awhile I start to get dizzy and then I just like to watch.
Last but not least, while we were in Oregon we attended a concert at the
Doug Fir Lounge at the Jupiter Hotel in Portland, and it ended up being a lot of fun. The whole place has this awesome retro-modern vibe that just screams cool. We ate dinner at the restaurant (delish) then saw a show of two bands I had never heard of. If you’re ever in Portland and looking for something fun to do, check this place out!
I feel like that this trip really made me feel like I can finally see myself actually living and loving life in Oregon. It’s a great state overall, and the thought of living in Portland truly excites me. So while I don’t know how the future will work out in terms of if and when we might move there, but if the opportunity arises one day in the future, I’m definitely game 🙂

I’ve mentioned this color before, but I’m seriously obsessed. Essie Sand Tropez is the best, most versatile color ever. It works for all seasons and it’s the perfect chic nude. I wore it during the trip and basically thought my nails looked really awesome…because I’m full of myself like that. But seriously, everyone needs this color because it’s amazing.
