He is Risen…

Can you imagine being one of those women?
Going to Christ’s tomb and being greeted by angel telling you that Jesus has risen from the dead? The range of emotions that those ladies must have experienced was probably pretty intense. If I had to guess I’d say they probably went from fear (because I mean, I’d probably be a little freaked out if I saw an angel!) to shock to overwhelming joy…just thinking about it gives me chills!
It’s so easy to get caught up in our busy lives and ignore the enormity that this Sunday celebration represents. To lose sight of the feeling that those women had at the tomb thousands of years ago. So today I think it’s so important to just stop and really think about it…Do you know how much God truly loves you? As much as I try to wrap my mind around it, I am still dumbfounded. Now I realize that Lola is not my child, but I literally love her SO much and I can’t even imagine the thought of her dying nonetheless willing sending her to die for any reason. So the fact that God would send his only Son to Earth to die a horrible death for me (and you…and everyone!) is a love SO big that my puny little mind cannot even comprehend it. And then the fact that Jesus took on all of our sin, hung on a cross, became separated from his Father, and was killed on on our behalf in order for his blood to wash away all our transgressions? Seriously? I mean just think about the weight of that. And then for Jesus to triumphantly rise again three days later, conquering the grave forever because we can now all have the free (but priceless) gift of salvation and eternal life through him?

Mind blown.

Easter is truly something to celebrate!

I hope you’re having a wonderful day celebrating with your family! I’ll be back tomorrow with an Easter recap, but just for laughs I thought I’d share some photos from Easters past…have a blessed day everyone! Xoxo

Easter 2008 @ My parents’ house: The thing about Easter in Michigan is you never know what the weather will be like…This particular year there was snow on the ground (and Cam looks like a baby)
Easter 2009 in Michigan: Much warmer weather!
Easter 2010 @ My parents’ house: Even warmer weather and I was in the midst of trying to get in shape for our Europe trip, check out those guns! Ha…kidding.
Easter 2011 in Greenville, SC: Our warmest Easter yet! I think it was like 90 degrees or something crazy. We had friends visiting from out of town and it was a lot of fun to host our first holiday! Cam’s rocking an outfit repeat from 2009 and Lola is pissed, per usual.
Last but not least, this was the Easter card that I made last year on Shutterfly to send out to our families…with Lola’s giant bunny rabbit ears, I couldn’t resist! 🙂

PS: If you’re wondering where I found that beautiful Scripture printable at the beginning of this post…Pinterest! (Duh) Here is the link to the original website where you can print out one of your own!
