Friday’s Fancies: Tailgate Chic

Happy Friday everyone!
I had a really hard time finding motivation/productivity with work in the beginning of this week…which lead to me being really stressed out in the middle of the week. However, I was able to get a lot done yesterday, so I think the week is going to finish pretty well. Plus my parents are in town and there’s a sunny forecast here in Tahoe the next few days, so I’m looking forward to a fantastic weekend!
Today I’m also linking up for Friday’s Fancies over at {long distance loving}! I love doing linkups with other bloggers, however, Friday’s Fancies is one I love looking at every week but had never participated in. However, when I heard this week’s topic was game day outfits, I couldn’t resist joining in the fun! Plus, this weekend my Wolverines are also taking on one of our
oldest rivals, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, so I’ve got Michigan Football on my mind! (Also {av} made me this adorable little banner, she is seriously so sweet!)
The University of Michigan attracts a lot of students from the East Coast. The way people dress on campus is pretty Midwestern, but there is also a much more preppy vibe which I love, and so I wanted to reflect that in my game day outfit. Back when I was in college, I would have most likely been wearing my maize and blue sorority pre-game shirt, a ripped jean skirt, and flip flops to the game. However now that I’m a little older and out of college (tear!), I thought it would be fun to put together a classier ensemble that I’d love to wear to a tailgate now! We probably aren’t going to be able to make it back to Ann Arbor for a game this fall with all we have going on, but if we were, this is what I’d want to wear…

Michigan Game

Skinny yellow J.Crew cords paired with a classic Saint James striped boat neck top and a school boy blazer, also from J.Crew, would be the perfect preppy way to sport my alma mater’s colors–maize and blue! (Plus, they are pieces I’d wear all fall…) A timeless riding boot (aka Frye’s Melissa Button Boot that I’ve been drooling over for ages!) is the perfect shoe for walking all over campus in style and comfort, and a small Tory Burch leather wristlet is great for holding your credit card/phone since Michigan no longer allows purses inside the Big House. The new folding Ray-Bans are perfect to wear while tailgating, as they can easily be tucked inside your wristlet once the sun goes down. And then this delicate Michigan necklace is the perfect sweet accent to finish off the look!

Have a lovely weekend everyone and GO BLUE! Xoxo
