My Current Wanderlust List

Happy Tuesday everyone!

First things first, today I’m over at Tammy’s blog sharing one of my favorite summer meals so be sure to check it out! She asked me to guest post while she’s over vacationing in Europe (lucky girl) and it got me thinking that it’s been awhile since I’ve done a travel post!

This summer seems like it has flown by between weddings (and we still have one to go!) and moving to Oregon. But now that we’re starting to get settled in to our new city, I am itching to get a vacation on the books! Cameron and I love to travel and I really like when we have an upcoming vacation to look forward to. We have been fortunate to be able to visit a lot of places together since we’ve been married, but that’s the thing about travel–the more places you go…the more places you want to go!

Here are five of the places currently at the top of my list, both here in the US and abroad…

Boston–This is a city that seems so charming and is filled with history, I need to visit ASAP!

Hawaii–I feel like everyone I meet out in Oregon has been to Hawaii before. It makes sense, it’s just a short flight from here when you don’t have to deal with flying across the country like when traveling from the East Coast/Midwest. I’ve heard there are great flight deals from Oregon so I’d love to go!

San Diego–Even though Cameron and I spent a lot of time exploring Northern California, I’d really love to take a trip to SoCal. San Diego seems like such a perfect spot for a long weekend on the beach!

Austin–I’ve heard that this is like the Texas version of Portland, and I think that would be pretty awesome. Plus, I follow a handful of Austin bloggers and they always have amazing food posts!

Vancouver–So I guess this technically isn’t domestic travel since it’s in another country…but since it’s only a 5 hours drive from Portland, I’m counting it as a domestic destination. I’m hoping that we’ll be able to take a long weekend trip up there in the near future as I’ve heard it’s a really cool city!

Thailand–As much as I would love go back to Europe soon, for me traveling to Asia is at the top of my priority list. I would really like to start planning a trip to Thailand ASAP as everyone I’ve ever heard talk about going there has loved it. It seems like such a gorgeous country with a really vibrant culture!

Croatia/Slovenia–I would have never really thought about traveling to these countries, but back when we lived in Boulder, CO and I was working at the travel store, I heard multiple people talk about how gorgeous they were. Plus, I think it would be cool to go to a part of Europe we haven’t been to!

Peru–I would love to take a more active vacation some time soon and hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! The landscape in Peru looks stunning and I’d like to experience South America.

Spain/Portugal–When Cameron and I did our trip backpacking around Europe in 2010, we did not visit these two countries, so I’d love to do a separate vacation here. I’ve heard Portugal is sort of similar to Italy without being super touristy, and then it seems like there is a lot to see in Spain as well.

Positano–I’ve been to Italy twice, but I would love to go back tomorrow if I had the chance. Cameron and I absolutely loved visiting Cinque Terre which is farther north, so I think it would be awesome to visit the Almafi Coast when we go back (because we will be going back!). I’ve noticed quite a few bloggers talking about Positano (Tammy just went there on her trip!) and one of my best friends from Michigan just recently went there as well. It looks so gorgeous, I need to get back to Italy ASAP.

I honestly could go on and on listing places I’d like to visit, but these are just a few of the destinations that have currently captured my imagination. I’m hoping that we can start planning another trip soon!

What about you? Any vacations coming up? Where would you most like to travel?

Have a great afternoon everyone! Xoxo

PS: I’m linking up for Travel Tuesday today! 🙂

Your list is great! We are trying to do more domestic travel too! Portland and Seattle are on my list as well… And when we do it I will definitely be looking to your blog for places to eat in Portland!

These are some great places! Spain is definitely amazing and you should go! All of these places are also on my list 🙂 It is neat to see someone else who wants to go to Slovenia, most people don't really know much about it, but I want to go so badly. Great post 🙂

Love your list! Nepal is probably the highest on my list at the moment, although I'm also dying to make it to Laos 🙂 From your international list, I've been to Croatia and Spain and of the two I'd definitely recommend Croatia! It is really and truly one of the most beautiful places I've ever laid eyes on. And because they aren't on the euro it's also more affordable.

I love that Italy is on the top of your list again 🙂 I Studied abroad there and spent much time along the Almafi Coast.

I was just daydreaming as well because I am leaving for Kauai next week! I will report back on my travels and let you know all the good spots!

And you cannot go wrong in San Diego, I have lived here 8 years now and its amazing. Nice to live at the beach, and go home to my family in the mountains in Lake Tahoe.

I can't wait to see what adventure you set out on next.

Boston is SO much fun, you should definitely go! There are a lot of young people because of the colleges, and I loved the mix of really old buildings with new and modern. Lots to do, the Sam Adams Brewery was worth the trip to Jamaica Plain! I'm with you on the Italy trip, planning a 2 week trip there in the spring and I might have to put Positano on the list! 🙂

Boston, Hawaii, and San Diego are a MUST. I just visited Boston last fall and I can't wait to return. It's the prettiest city! And San Diego has PERFECT weather! I love living vicariously through all your travels, especially internationally 🙂

We have very similar list – including Hawaii and Thailand – one of these will happen this next year for us we're hoping! I dream of going back to Italy one day. My husband has never been! If you ever come to Austin, let me know!! We live in Houston, but my husband is from Austin and we go back regularly.
