Rosy Weekend

First of all, thanks so much for all your input on my rug conundrum yesterday! Our couch is being delivered this weekend, so chances are we’ll probably wait and see how that looks before we make a decision…but don’t worry, I’ll keep you posted once things come together!
Speaking of the weekend, I know it’s a little clichΓ© but I love brunch.
You can sleep in and then go eat a delicious meal that combines the best of breakfast and lunch…and sometimes you even get a cocktail. What’s not to love?
Now that we’re living downtown, I have a feeling that brunch will be a more frequent occurrence and I’m pretty excited about that! This past weekend, we headed out of our new apartment in search of a brunch place and ended up at Raven & Rose, the restaurant where we ate at with Cam’s parents a few weeks ago. They have a weekend brunch that we had heard was pretty good and decided to give it a try. Overall, I actually liked their brunch better than I did dinner!
I couldn’t resist trying the Full Bloody Irish, as I had heard it was one of the best bloody marys in Portland. I love spicy cocktails, so this bloody mary was right up my alley–it had hot pepper vodka, house Worcestershire, and a little bit of Guiness for body and some Irish flair!
We also got an order of donut muffins to share; they came out warm and were absolutely delish! They reminded me of these mini donuts that I made last fall.
For my meal, I got the Wood-fired Croque Madame and it was fantastic. I loved how the ham and gruyere was stacked with the brioche and they did not skimp with the bechamel sauce!
Raven & Rose has British/Irish inspired dishes, so Cam ordered the Full Irish Plate which came with eggs and a bunch of sides including housemade black and white pudding . He seemed to enjoy it!
Trying to take advantage of sitting outside as long as we can πŸ™‚
If you’re looking to try Raven & Rose, I’d highly suggest their brunch!

Afterwards, we strolled around by Portland State. All the trees are so peaceful!
I know that my blog header tagline might seem cheesy, but Portland really is a city filled with roses! There are so many different varieties and colors, and they’re all so gorgeous! I love seeing them and think it’s so cool that there are so many in bloom all over the place. We happen to stumble by a bunch of them on our way home from brunch and I couldn’t resist stopping.

Happy hump day everyone! Xoxo

Nothing about your City of Roses is cheesy! Can we please be on the same coast again so we can be Brunch Besties (now that was cheesy)?!

OMG, that croque madame looks incredible! I can't believe I didn't notice you ended up moving so close to me- I'm probably a 10 minute walk from Raven and Rose (who sadly, I have yet to visit for brunch- but now feel compelled to…)
