Life // Thursday Randoms

Hey there!
I feel like it’s been literally forever since I just sat down and typed a blog post for fun of it off the top of my head. I have a running list on my phone of posts that I want to write (recaps from our trip to Europe, some couple giveaway/product posts, beauty/fashion roundups, etc.) but they’re all the kind of thing that I can’t just sit down and put together in 20 minutes. They require uploading photos and finding links and lots of other things that just seem way too tiring on a hot summer evening. But tonight I was thinking, I started this blog as a creative outlet for myself and I don’t want to give it up and I don’t want it to feel like a chore. Granted, I do want to share those more involved posts but I also want to feel like I can just pop in and share random brain dumps every now and then too…so that’s what I’m doing today! Here’s what’s going on in my world currently…
+I’ve never been one to wish away time and I usually hate when stores start bringing out school supplies and holiday decorations in July. But this year? I AM OVER SUMMER. I love summer and I normally, I want to savor it until the very end, but I am just so beyond ready for fall. It’s been abnormally hot in Portland this year, plus it was sweltering pretty much the entire time we were in Europe too so I feel like we haven’t had a break. (I realize that ‘Oh it was too hot on our European vacation!’ is like the definition of a first world problem, but humor me…) I am so sick of being sweaty and getting Henry out of his car seat and having him be all sweaty. Blahhh. I can’t wait for boots, sweaters, and having the weather be cool enough to actually do something outside besides sit in Henry’s kiddie pool. I would love to be being able to go to a coffee shop with my laptop and have a little time to blog while sipping a hot coffee…that seriously sounds amazing 🙂
+Speaking of my blog, I’m really frustrated because it keeps showing an error message where it says it’s temporarily unavailable? I’ve had multiple people tell me they’ve had this issue and I’ve had it myself, but it’s intermittent and refreshing the page usually clears it up. But still it’s super annoying! I don’t know how to fix it so if anyone has suggestions, definitely let me know!
+Has anyone watched the show Odd Mom Out? I just binge watched it in a day and a half and loved it. We don’t have cable so I just watched it on the Bravo app and I really liked it a lot. My sister lives on the Upper East Side and so I’ve seen first hand when I’ve visited her that this world really does exist, but I think the show is smart and funny. I hope they do another season!
+One thing of the things on my list to do this summer was to go camping, but we haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’d love to still make it happen, but I just heard that all campfires are banned in Oregon right now due to the fire danger. Which is totally legit since it’s super dry here, but camping without s’mores just does not sound fun…
+I’ve really been getting in to making Henry and I smoothies this summer and our blender is just not cutting it anymore. I know people swear by the Vitamix but it’s kind of a steep investment…if you have one, do you think it’s worth it? Any less pricey alternatives?
+Speaking of suggestions, I’ve been in a big Trader Joe’s phase this summer and I love finding new stuff to try out there. Do you any favorite products that I should try? Let me know in the comments because I’d love to hear!
+I’ve already started thinking about Henry’s Halloween costume this year, but I haven’t had the light bulb of inspiration go off yet…I’m so excited to dress him up though!
+My parents were in town from Michigan the past few days and it’s always nice to have them out in Oregon! I put a few pictures on Instagram, and that’s usually the best way to keep up with what’s going on in my world! Hope everyone is having a great week!

I am with you in being ready for fall! I live in New England with a 4 month old and I have had enough! 🙂 For smoothies, I have had a Nutri Ninja for about a year now and I love it. It was pretty much the only way I could get myself to eat veggies for the first half of my pregnancy. (Spinach tasted a lot better mixed with fruit!) I would have loved a Vitamix, but I put that money towards a Nespresso machine instead since coffee is far more important to me. 😉

I'm ready for fall too! We got the vitamix last summer and I still love it. We were making smoothies every day for a while and now we do it at least a few times a week. I love being able to throw leafy veggies in there and not tasting it in the smoothie at all. In my opinion, it's worth it. We got ours at Costco for a "deal".

Agreed on the camping without s'mores just isn't right! We actually made s'mores on a piece of tinfoil on the mini grill we brought camping a couple weeks ago. The marshmallows were as crispy or burnt, but still real good!

Love my vitamix! It spins so fast you can make hot soup in the winter too!!

We got a vitamix from Costco too and saved a bunch of money. I use it every day for smoothies for me and my daughter so it was definitely worth it. I also use it for soups =)
