Happy Monday everyone!
Another weekend has come and gone. In light of our upcoming trip, Cam and I had a more low-key (albeit fairly active) weekend. We went skiing both Saturday and Sunday, as well as doing some snow-shoeing on Saturday night. We capped off the weekend by watching the Oscars last night, and they’re something I look forward to each year. I personally thought Seth McFarland did a good job hosting (the Sound of Music bit was my favorite), and I loved the James Bond/musical tributes. And of course, I loved checking out all the Oscar fashions! Here are my picks for the best looks of the evening:
My first choice for the night’s best dressed was Jennifer Garner, I thought she looked lovely. I really liked this color on her, and I thought that ruffles on the back of this Gucci gown were really dramatic without being too over the top. I loved her jewelry and I thought the overall look was classic and glamorous, perfect for the Oscars. Plus, I think that she and Ben Affleck are one of Hollywood’s most adorable couples. I was so happy to see Argo win best picture as I thought it was such an excellent movie.
Zoe Saldana’s Alexis Mabille Couture gown was another of my absolute favorite looks last night. I loved all the beautiful details on this dress–the detailed bodice, the belt, and the gray ombre layers of fabric around the hem. Her Roger Vivier shoes are darling, and overall I thought it was such a fashion-forward look that was still perfect for the occasion.
Amy Adams is one of my favorite actresses, and I feel like she consistently makes good choices on the red carpet because she knows what works for her yet she still experiments with different looks. I thought that this gray Oscar de la Renta gown was gorgeous on her, and her hair looked lovely as well. Such a pretty look, this definitely the kind of dress I would wear if I were going to the Oscars (ha)!
Oh Jennifer Lawrence. America loves her and I think she’s awesome. I’m mean, come on, she even made tripping while going to accept her best actress award look adorable. I loved the overall direction she took with her Oscar look as I thought it was really pretty. I liked the pale pink color of this Dior Haute Couture gown and her I thought her hair looked amazing. But honestly, I didn’t care for the dress itself. I thought the material was kind of strange, I thought that where the top of the strapless dress hit her was kind of weird, and I didn’t really think it flattered her figure. I also hated that thin necklace she wore because it didn’t fit with the dress at all. I mean, we all knew she was going to win best actress, if you were ever going to wear some outrageous diamond necklace, tonight was the night! But overall, I still thought she was one of the night’s best dressed, but I think it’s just mainly because she’s so darn endearing.
Amanda Seyfried is another one of my favorite actresses, I think she’s really talented and always looks great on the red carpet. Last night was no exception; this Alexander McQueen gown is really pretty and I loved her updo. However, as much as I liked this look, I really think I would have liked it better if she would have chosen a bold color for her dress. I liked the red gown she wore for the Les Mis performance better because I think she color is much more striking on her. Overall though, she was still one of my favorites!

And finally, rounding out my favorites is Kerry Washington. She seems like she has a lot of fun with her red carpet choices, and I absolutely loved her Oscar look. The color of her Miu Miu gown was so beautiful, and the beaded bodice and bow were really feminine and had this modern retro vibe that I just adore.
Overall, I thought that the majority of stars last night made great choices. Here are some of the other looks from the evening that I liked:
Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab
Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani
Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan
Jennifer Aniston in Valentino
Naomi Watts in Armani Prive
And as always, there are always some celebs who seem to miss the mark when it comes to the Academy Awards. Here are the ladies that wore looks I didn’t care for last night:
Halle Berry looks great, but this Versace dress is just a little much in my opinion. I think it was the severe shoulders that threw me off, and I wish that she would have gone with something either solid black or solid silver.
Oh Anne, you really broke my heart with this Prada disaster. While I though her hair looked darling and I loved the pale pink with the diamond necklace, the dress itself looked like a bad prom dress. And I’m sorry, it’s the Academy Awards, you need to wear a bra.
I think that pregnant Jenna Dewan-Tatum really missed an opportunity last night. She’s such a pretty girl and I think she could have showcased her baby bump in a much more flattering gown. I felt like this black lace dress was kind of a poor choice.
Of every celebrity in Hollywood, I can say without a doubt that Kristen Stewart is my least favorite. I feel like the attitude she projects in public appearances is just so snotty and ungrateful and she just seems like a miserable human being. When she went on stage last night, she looked like a hot mess. It’s the Oscars, the least you can do is brush your hair.
Sorry to be harsh, I just really dislike her.

And finally, my I loved my girl Michelle’s special guest appearance last night. While politics is something I’d rather not discuss here on this blog, I can openly say that I love Michelle Obama. I think she’s smart and stylish, and I like how she seems to have a lot of fun in her role as first lady. I thought she looked so pretty in this sequined Naeem Khan gown, and I’m loving her new Zooey Deschanel-esque bangs.
