Fourth of July Week in Michigan

Happy Monday everyone! We had a great weekend enjoying the nice weather here in Oregon, but more on that later this week! I’m a little behind on blogging, so today I thought I’d go ahead and start getting caught up. As I mentioned, I was home in Michigan the entire week of the 4th of July and it was great because I was able to spend a lot of time with family and friends while I was there!
The day after I got into town, I attended my friend Katie’s beautiful bridal shower. Living across the country from most of my close friends has made it tough to attend things like showers and bachelorette parties, so I was really happy I was able to make it to Katie’s shower, especially because I’m going to be a bridesmaid in her wedding next month! Her family did a really great job putting all the details together for her shower together, and everything turned out so cute! Even though she’s having a different color scheme for her wedding, everything for her shower was done in pink and green–so of course I loved it!

The tables looked so darling 🙂

How cute is this?
High school friends 🙂
Another table shot because they were just that cute–I loved the beautiful floral arrangements with the pink peonies (my fav)! The mason jars with the pink striped straws were adorable as well. For a favor, everyone got a yummy pink & white iced cookie and a pretty pink & green floral apron (what you see rolled up and tied with tulle on the plates)–such a great idea!
Someone gave them this as a gift–I thought it was so creative!
Opening presents…
I ordered all my friends who got married this summer these burlap pillows with their new last names/wedding dates from this awesome Etsy shop–I was so happy with how they turned out! They make a perfect wedding or shower gift…and now I want to order one for myself!
Josh was really getting in to opening the gifts–ha!
Can’t wait for her wedding over Labor Day weekend!
The weather while I was home in Michigan was actually rather cool and cloudy, which is unusual. However, my dad and I still made time to go down to the pond on our property and do some fishing! My parents’ house is very peaceful so being home is really relaxing.

I caught a couple of bass–going fishing is just like riding a bike 🙂
Spotted a little frog on the shore!
My sister flew in from NYC on 4th of July, and it was really fun for us to spend some time together. Even though we saw each other recently in Charleston, it had been a really long time since just she and I were home with my parents in Michigan. It was really cool for the four of us to be together like the old days!

You can’t tell in this picture, but Melissa’s dress actually had little white stars all over it so it was pretty perfect for Independence Day!
We ended up going over to my grandparents’ house to watch the fireworks in our hometown–the show this year was pretty good and you could see them perfectly from their porch!
The day after 4th of July, my aunt had everyone over for a BBQ–everything looked so cute!

Good times with the fam!
As always, my trips to Michigan go way too fast! But I’m glad everything worked out so that my sister and I could both be home at the same time, and it was a really nice visit. I’ve got more photos to share from my time in the Mitten of my friend Kelly’s beautiful barn wedding–stay tuned for those tomorrow! Xoxo
