Family + Friends // An Epic Weekend

Happy Monday everyone! This weekend was definitely one for the books…and since I was actually on my game last night and downloaded my camera card, I’m excited to share some photos today!

Two of my girlfriends from high school (both named Katie!) and their husbands came out to Portland this week to visit and it was so great to see them! They came out for the Michigan State/Oregon football game this weekend, and it was a lot of fun to be able to show them our house and our city.

Thursday night, we had dinner at Gruner and then went over to Multnomah Whiskey Library for drinks. Even though I can’t indulge in cocktails right, I still love taking out of town guests here because it’s such a cool place. We even got our own private room!

Friday, I ended up taking the day off of work to spend some more time with my friends and show them a few of my favorite spots. We had gorgeous sunny weather so it was a perfect day for enjoying the beauty of the Rose Garden and walking around the city!

Friday night, we grabbed dinner at an awesome little micro-restaurant pod (which I believe is called “The Ocean”) on NE Glisan. It was my first time trying it out, but it’s a fun place to come with a group of people since there are a variety of restaurants you can order from with one central outdoor seating area so everyone can get what they want. It’s a great place to go in the summer!

Saturday, my friends headed down to Eugene for the football game – Cameron and I had decided not to go to the game since we aren’t Michigan State fans (seeing as we both went to Michigan – GO BLUE!) but it ended up working out because my sister in law had her baby! We were able to go to the hospital and got to hold him just shortly after he was born, which was so amazing! Our nephew Lucas is so tiny and absolutely perfect, and it was really cool to get to see such a “new” newborn. It’s also pretty crazy to think that we’ll have one of our own in a few months 🙂
We’re all in love with this little guy already!

Yesterday, after taking our out of town guests to the airport, we had the pleasure of attending the Wild About Game event at Timberline Lodge hosted by Nicky USA. This event was a celebration of meat and featured a ton of great food and beverages samples. The highlight was a chef competition that paired a Portland chef against a Seattle chef each making a dish featuring a specialty meat. It was a gorgeous day at Mt. Hood which made it even better! Here are a few snaps from the afternoon…

You can see more photos from the event (and the rest of the weekend) on my Instagram 🙂
Had to get a bump shot in front of the mountain 🙂
Finally, it was such a gorgeous day that Cameron and I decided to stop at Trillium Lake on the way home. I’m so thankful that all this beauty is such a short drive from Portland!
The person who took this didn’t exactly get it when we said to get the mountain in the background #fail

All in all, this was a pretty amazing weekend! Bring on the rest of September 🙂
