Feast PDX // Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting

This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending Feast Portland!

I’ve heard Feast described as a “choose your own adventure” for food and that’s incredibly accurate. It’s four days consisting of tons of different events across Portland that celebrate what makes this city (and state) such a culinary hot spot! Feast is put on by an incredibly talented team here in Portland and it’s sponsored by Bon Appetit, so it’s really well-done despite only being in it’s third year. And the best part is the money raised goes to hunger charities here in Oregon so everyone wins!

I received a blogger pass to Feast last year, but I had no idea what to expect. This year, I had the privilege of getting a blogger pass again and I was fully prepared for what a treat I was in for! (My blogger pass did give me complimentary entry into multiple Feast events, however, all the thoughts/opinions expressed in my recap posts are 100% my own…and I think that will be evident when you see all the delicious food I got to eat!) I attended a few different events over the course of the weekend, and I thought it would be easier to split it into multiple posts to recap my experience…because let’s face it, I took way too many photos to try to do only one post!

The Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting is actually a two-day event that took place on Friday and Saturday right in the center of Portland in Pioneer Square. As the name would suggest, this event really highlights the bounty of Oregon and features tons of great food, along with lots of wine and beer!

A lot of my friends (like my girls Erin and Rachel) received blogger passes to Feast as well, and we had a great time hanging out all weekend at the various events eating delicious food. Speaking of which, here’s a small sample of some of things I tried at the Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting

These little Irish car bomb cupcakes were delicious!
These heirloom tomatoes with Jacobson Sea Salt were divine.
There were lots of chefs, like Naomi Pomeroy, doing cooking demos during the two days
There was lots of awesome Feast swag for sale this weekend!
How cute are these t-shirts from Flavour Gallery?!
And I loved these beautiful totes from WILL Leather Goods!
Of course all the bloggers couldn’t resist the cute Travel Oregon photo booth!
Friday, I was only able to attend the Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting for a little bit, so on Saturday, I went back and spent some more time there. It was a very hot but fun afternoon!

It was definitely a little tough being pregnant at Feast and not being able to indulge in the amazing selection of beer and wine at least I wasn’t the only preggo in attendance! My fellow Portland blogger Erika (left) is also pregnant, so it was fun catching up with her this weekend. Tiara (right) is actually someone who I became friends with in Tahoe and she’s pregnant too. She applied and got a blogger pass, so she and her husband came up from Tahoe for the weekend which was really fun!

And even though I couldn’t drink, I definitely made up for it with all the delicious food! One of the best things I tried this weekend was from one of my favorite places in Portland, Cacao! They were serving Salt & Straw olive oil ice cream topped with their hot drinking chocolate and some crunchy cacao nibs, so it was kind of like an affogato but with chocolate…it was so good!
I didn’t get the descriptions of everything I ate, some stuff I just photographed because it was pretty 🙂

So glad my friend Kelsey got a blogger pass…so we could get a picture at each event…ha!
(You can see her beautiful photos from the Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting here)
If you follow me on Instagram (or come visit me in Portland) you’ll know that I’m obsessed with Salt & Straw ice cream, their flavors are just so good! I especially loved this seasonal flavor, Apricot & Citra Hop, because it was super refreshing in the hot weather!
Ruth Reichl was there signing her book – pretty awesome!
USA Pears had a cute booth with lots of delicious samples!

My friend Chloe is on the team that puts Feast together so she was on the go all weekend!
I loved these awesome chocolates from Batch PDX!
I also really enjoyed the ice cream I tried from Red Wagon Creamery in Eugene.
The Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting really epitomizes what Feast is all about and it’s the perfect way to explore the abundance of creative food, fantastic wine, and delicious craft beer that this state has to offer. I’d highly recommend checking it out next year! I had a blast over the two days…and I’m pretty sure the baby was happy with all the delicious eats too 🙂 (Thanks Kelsey for the photo!)

I’ll be back later this week with more Feast fun so stay tuned!
